History & Milestones

Cape Conscious Media has gone through an important journey of growth and change. The platform originally began in 2017, when Nantal Hopley built his own podcast studio and started a podcast called The Babbling Heads Podcast with his friends. Over time, it evolved into a broader space hosting a variety of audio-visual podcasts.

Later, Nantal Hopley was selected to take part in the Sound Waves Podcast Training in Johannesburg — a week-long, intensive programme and the first of its kind in South Africa. This was also the first time that three organisations from three different countries—the Goethe-Institut, IFAS (French Institute of South Africa), and the South African Podcast Guild—came together to plan and deliver this groundbreaking training. This experience helped shape the current direction of Cape Conscious Media, embedding ethical podcasting and youth development into the organization’s core work.
